Welcome back to another year together! We are starting our Happenings events with a tour out of town. On Wednesday, 17th we will visit the Racconigi Castle. Racconigi is a lovely little village just 30 minutes by train out of town, and site of one of the many Savoy family’s royal residencies, one of the many sites of the “Corona di Delizie”, as well as a Unesco Heritage site. Our trusted guide, Sarah Nascetti, will lead us during the visit.
The history of the castle dates back to the year 1000, but most of what we can see today is from the 18th century. This was the last formal residence of the kings of Italy before they had to leave the country at the end of World War II. Racconigi also has a beautiful landscaped park that can be visited, and nearby there is a conservation and recovery center for storks and waterfowl, so if we are lucky we will get a glimpse of these beautiful birds.
