DESCRIPTION:Walking to Happenings \nAll Paths Lead to the Botanical Gardens\nOn Thursday\, May 14th at 10:00 am\, one of the most inclusive IWCT activities will take place as usual.  We’ll meet near the arch at Parco del Valentino and follow Linda along the park’s winding paths. By around 10:45 am\, we’ll arrive in front of the Orto Botanico dell’Università di Torino—a place many of us have passed by without fully exploring.\nFounded in 1729\, the Botanical Garden of the University of Turin is not only a delight for the senses but also an important research site.\nAt this point\, the Happenings group will take over: Gaia\, one of the garden’s botanists and researchers\, will guide us through its diverse collections. DESCRIPTION:Welcome back to another year together! We are starting our Happenings events with a tour out of town. On Wednesday\, 17th we will visit the Racconigi Castle.  Racconigi is a lovely little village just 30 minutes by train out of town\, and site of one of the many Savoy family’s royal residencies\, one of the many sites of the “Corona di Delizie”\, as well as a Unesco Heritage site.  Our trusted guide\, Sarah Nascetti\, will lead us during the visit. \nThe history of the castle dates back to the year 1000\, but most of what we can see today is from the 18th century. This was the last formal residence of the kings of Italy before they had to leave the country at the end of World War II.  Racconigi also has a beautiful landscaped park that can be visited\, and nearby there is a conservation and recovery center for storks and waterfowl\, so if we are lucky we will get a glimpse of these beautiful birds.\nHere’s What You Need To Know…\nDate:  Wednesday\, 17 September\nMeeting Point:  Racconigi Castle’s portineria by 10.15 am\, in Via Francesco Morosini\, 3\, 12035 Racconigi CN\, Italy\nMeeting Time:  Be there by 10:15 am\nHow Reach Racconigi by Train:  Direct train\, we suggest taking the train n.26758 that will leave from Porta Susa at 9.03 (or from Lingotto at 9.11). The cost is 5 euros. That will give us time for a coffee before heading to the castle\, it’s a brief walk. Other trains are possible but they will require a change.\nHow Reach Racconigi by Car:  It’s a swift 20 minute ride.\nFee:  Free for holders of Museum Card.
