MOMS GROUP
MOM IS THE NAME, CHAOS IS THE GAMEWe are moms from all backgrounds who are in Turin for various reasons. Some are Italians that have lived abroad, others are expats on limited contracts, some have had a long-lasting dream of moving to Italy and have made the jump, and further, others have found love. We all speak English and have kids.
A friendly community and network for English-speaking moms with kids of all ages. We laugh, chat and support each other. Living in a foreign culture can be overwhelming at times, so it is comforting and fun to spend time with others in the same situation.
The events we have range from coffee meetups, evening aperitivos, halloween trick or treats, play groups, farm visits, chocolate factory visits and cinema screenings. We try to mix it up and have some events just for moms and others with the kids.
OUR EVENTS
MONDAY MORNING COFFEE
Every other Monday we meet for coffee and a chat. It’s a very casual, drop-in event. Bring your smile, your kid or a friend, it’s open to all! If you have a baby, there is always someone there to hold, so you can drink your coffee while it’s warm. 🙂
HALLOWEEN
“Trick or Treating in the Park” the last Sunday of October is our annual Halloween event in the Giardini Reali. Kids and adults alike are dressed up and run around the garden finding posts where they can ask for candy experiencing the American tradition here in Turin.
APERITIVO!
Because moms also need to let their hair down at times, we try to have a monthly or bi-monthly casual aperitivo! Yummy finger food, something to drink, fun conversation and not a child in sight (Babies are ok!).
OTHER EVENTS
Some events are held on a regular basis, others are occasional, but always held in English. Here are some of our past ones:
Chocolate Factory Visit
Boella & Sorissi, a local chocolate factory here in Turin, opened their doors to us and guided us through the whole production process. We tasted all kinds of chocolate and learned a lot about cocoa, all in English.
Annual Xmas Sushi Dinner
Rounding out the year we have ourselves some non-Xmas food in the middle of all the traditional winter food. A nice break and an all around good time.
Family Farm Tour & Cherry Picking
Amilu, a local regenerative farm, was so kind and welcomed us even though they are not generally open to the public. We held ducklings, petted sheep and saw the new lamb. Our picnic was lovely and we picked lots of cherries.
Frozen 2 Matinee English Cinema
A screening of the original language movie BEFORE bedtime. Not easy to find here and we had more than a hundred participants. We are hoping to repeat this again! (with another movie of course)
